How can I use VALE Reciprocal Borrowing privileges?
Browse:
Kean students, faculty, staff, and administrators have two options for obtaining a book that is not available in the Kean University library collections:
Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
You may request a copy of the book through Interlibrary Loan, which allows Kean Library to borrow materials on your behalf from other libraries.
VALE Reciprocal Borrowing Program
Kean participates in the VALE Reciprocal Borrowing program, administered by VALE New Jersey (Virtual Academic Library Environment). This program is a cooperative, onsite borrowing agreement among participating VALE member colleges and universities.
To use this service, Kean users must complete a VALE Reciprocal Borrowing Application Form. The form must be printed, filled out, and signed by both the borrower and a member of the Access Services (Circulation) staff before attempting to borrow materials at another participating library. The application form may be printed in advance or obtained directly from the Access Services Desk on the first floor of the Nancy Thompson Learning Commons. Separate forms must be completed for on-site borrowing at more than one library.
Once the application has been completed and signed, you may present your Kean ID card along with the completed form at a participating VALE library to borrow books.
For additional details and a list of participating institutions, please consult the VALE Reciprocal Borrowing agreement.
