Many print encyclopedias are shelved in the Reference Collection on the second floor of the Nancy Thompson Library and Learning Commons. There you will find general encyclopedias (like Encyclopaedia Britannica and World Book Encyclopedia). However, you will also find subject-focused encyclopedias (like Encyclopedia of Criminology, Encyclopedia of Educational Psychology, and Encyclopedia of Children, Adolescents, and the Media), which provide helpful introductory articles on subject-related topics.

The library also has a number of online encyclopedias, including the general encyclopedias Britannica Online and Britannica Spanish Reference Center. Online subject encyclopedias include Encyclopedia of Social Work, and many others may be accessed through Gale Virtual Reference Library and SAGE Knowledge.
