The Nancy Thompson Library and Learning Commons provides online access to the Star-Ledger newspaper through the America's News (NewsBank) database. This database, also listed on the Databases A-Z page, provides articles published in the Star-Ledger from 1989 to the present.

After clicking the link for America's News (NewsBank), scroll down and click the blue Star-Ledger Collection button on the right-hand side of the screen.

Off-campus access to this database will require you to login with your Kean Google username and password.

Non-Kean users:

Due to Kean University's license/contract with the Newsbank company for the Star-Ledger Collection database, we are not able to provide electronic copies of Star-Ledger newspaper articles by email to individuals who are not current Kean University students, faculty, staff, and administrators. However, members of the public are welcome to visit our library in person to use our database.

We also recommend the following alternative options for non-Kean users:

  • Utilize NJ.com, which provides free indexing of staff-written and other selected Newark Star-Ledger articles from 1989 to the present. Articles may be purchased from NJ.com for a fee.

  • Contact your local public library, through which you may be able to submit an Interlibrary Loan request for the article.

  • Contact the Newark Public Library (NPL), which has access to earlier editions of the Newark Star-Ledger. For reference questions, research services, and to order copies, call the NPL New Jersey Information Center at (973) 733-7775 or email njreference@npl.org.
